She washed with her tears and her hair
The parable told
The tax collector’s sacrifice vs the womans
The pharisees concern about the state of her observance of their customs, vs Jesus knowing the state of her heart.
The words spoken about her.
He exalted her.
He identified the spreading of the news he was bringing, and he used this womans act of understanding and surrender as the illustration of how we should recognize and receive the gospel.
The way Jesus recognizes our hearts. That’s why it doesn’t take a scholar to recognize Jesus as Lord, (though once a scholar does, they stumble upon a well of insight) because a person hears and reads the words of jesus and they say, I may not know much, but I know my heart and this man knows something about it, too. I’m going to see what he says about it from here on out. Or they say, this man knows something about my heart, let me deny him access into it. That’s why Adam and Eve hid in the garden. Every rejection of the truth, is a dodge behind a bush.
