A New Partnership and a New Season.
A new bloom has popped up from another seed planted a couple years ago. That seed was a friendship with a sister I connected with over coffee (of course), and we have been consistent in reciprocating invitations for opportunities to connect.
One of those opportunities came when she extended an invitation for me to come to a women’s event with her. I was hesitant to go, since I was a season of isolated working. But the priority to maintain connection with my friend trumped my own need for focus. So, I accepted the invitation gladly.
The unexpected part came when we sat ourselves at an open table and began to have a conversation over delicious local Indian Fusion food. Shortly into the start of our conversation, a young girl sat herself at the end of the table.
Often, you don’t think about the impact conversations in public can have.
I have been approached by people full of gratitude for the boldness to have meaningful conversations in public spaces. Mostly from Christians who appreciate the witness of hearing brothers and sisters give testimony to one another regarding our faith, but sometimes I hear from people who just appreciated hearing a true and inspiring thing while listening in.
This particular evening, at this particular table, with this particular woman, we were approached, and she had a particular comment.
“Do you guys have a podcast? I could listen to you all day!”
Growing Takes Time, But Sprouts Come Fast
Have you ever planted a seed and waited for it to grow, and it felt like it was taking forever? But then you plant another seed and the very next day, you see some green sprouting?

A friendship was the original seed—planted in a conversation over coffee between sisters of the same Faith—but for some reason, that comment sprouted something very quickly. What I thought was some humorous random comment, was something that took root in my friend.
Before we knew it, we were building idea on top of idea over some strange podcast that would allow us to ramble about anything and everything.
My muscles of vision building, mission constructing, and Brand strategizing immediately began working and before the event was over, we had an idea in our pocket and a regular night of the week set.
Where she was expecting slow growing, I threw in some of my own fertilizer with equipment I had acquired over the years of freelancing; equipment suitable for podcasting.
Then, where I was expecting slow growing, my sister was ready to throw some fertilizer when the opportunity piqued her daughters interest to be on our team, we had another brain on the project, and a sweet gift for crisp audio.
The Commitment was the Real Suprise.
It is a rare friend who has an idea, zeros in on the idea, commits to it, and then shows up for it. I felt like I found a diamond when the next week, there we were – recording our first episode!
And I’m looking at this lovely little blooming with my jaw on the floor in absolute awe of it’s existence.

There’s something to be said about having your eyes open for the right partnerships and recognizing when they organically fall into place.
We were both primed for an opportunity. When the opportunity came the seeds planted before each of us lent themselves to a new flourishing.
I hope you take time to listen to The Weekly Weather podcast.
Maybe we’ll do 3 episodes. Maybe we’ll do 30, but I hope we’ll get to know each other through a season or two.
