AI isn’t just a distraction from artists.
Is there any longer such a thing as industry leader in the age of AI Overview? Now, no one stands out when the search results Frankenstein the information into one palatable, “unbiased,” answer to everything you ever ask.
In the *olden* days, six years ago, when you were writing copy, one of the strategies you could consider was the opportunity to be thought of as an “industry leader” of your field. These industry leaders were the go-to for solid information-a trustworthy source of good content that served your company or your personal purpose as well, and you could trust it came from experience.
This reputation took years to build up.
Companies, the state high percentages of their budgets to it’s possible insight about how to best serve their market outside of what even they knew.
Industry leader was something to be sought.
But in the age of AI- WHEN THE AVERAGE CONSUMER IS GIVEN A CONGLOMERATE IN RESPONSE TO EVERY INQUIRY THEY ONCE CAME TO. IN ORDER TO FIND THE LEADERS WHO ARE DOING can tRULY SHARPEN THEM.
We’re at a loss for an opportunity to connect with experience.
Instead of connecting with experience, we’re connecting with an algorithmic idea of someone else’s experience – a database of experiences. But in my experience, Nothing I’ve read compares to talking to people with actual experience.
And my experience, nothing I have read compares to having the experience.
So where does this leave the inexperienced? When they are unable to connect with the experienced; Because all they ever come across is compiled information of experience rather than people of experience?
We could wag our fingers and say, “well, they should know better and dig deeper!”
But have they been taught better?
Are they being taught better?
What is the standard in our institutions about thinking, and outsourcing thinking? Experiencing, and outsourcing experience?
In what ways could institutions of education do well to invest in experiences and connections to experiences?
In what ways can our institutions currently investing in AI, CONGLOMERATING THE EXPERIENCES and artistic value of others, intead invest in the experiences of others?
